Health Informatics Programs

Health Information Technology Professional

The Health Information Technology Track provides the fundamental knowledge and skills required by technical professionals to support physician adoption of Health IT. It is rooted in core concepts of information & Computer Science, the US Health Care System, and Medical Information Systems.

The Health IT Training will position students with work skills essential for the emerging workforce as well as positioning those certified in this program for future high growth Jobs in the most high growth industry, that of Healthcare.

Prerequisites:  Students should be medical or information technology professionals familiar with computer science.
Total Program Hours:         160 Hours
Required for Completion:  16 weeks
Total Program Cost:              $5000.00

The objective of the training is to have students become fully certified to the national standards of Certified Health Informatics Systems Professional (CHISP).

Students will have a basic understanding of computer architecture, data organization, representation and structure, structure of programming languages, networking and data communication, and the basic terminology of computing.

Students will learn techniques for effective communication with physicians.  Special emphasis is placed on EHR change management communication methods.  Students will also understand job expectations in the health care settings, recognize the various levels of healthcare providers, places of patient service, and become familiar with the patient-care flow process.

CHISP and the Importance of Certification:

Accrediting body sponsoring the Certified Health Informatics Systems Professional (CHISP) exam provides a set of skills-based competencies needed by the IT professionals in the Health IT profession, regardless of the career path they choose.  The CHISP tells the hiring public that a professional understands both the Healthcare and the Information Technology industry.

 

 PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL

This program is designed to teach students to apply the generally accepted project management best practices recognized by the Project Management Institute to successfully manage projects.  This course is designed for any professional, whether new to project management or a seasoned practitioner, who wants to increase their project management skills, apply a standards-based approach to project management and who is seeking to fulfill the PMI prerequisite training requirement when applying for the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. 

Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: describe the foundational principles of professional project management and the project lifecycle; understand project concept and selection best practices, define and initiate a project; build a project team; plan and execute project work; develop work breakdown structures, project schedules, cost estimates, and budgets; analyze, monitor and control project risks as well as project performance in terms of cost, schedule and quality; close a project.

Prerequisites: Students should have knowledge of Project Management Fundamentals and be proficient in microsoft word and excel

Total Program Hours:       40 Hours
Required for completion: 4 weeks
Total Program Cost:          $3500.00

The Institute of Technology has partnered with Missouri Sun Solar, LLC to provide internship and employment to graduates of the Solar Installation and Solar Sales Training Programs.  Missouri Sun Solar will have to triple its current workforce in order to keep up with the demand due to business expansion and opportunity's.  We are looking to add at least full time 70 jobs by years’ end and first quarter of 2014 with starting salary range of $13-$25 per hour.
